Philosophy

There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than
are dreamt of in your philosophy.

- Hamlet, Hamlet to Horatio

Our philosophy is what we believe is changing slowly in an otherwise very fast changing world.  You will often hear us talk about our Philosophy, as it is the touchstone for us in how we act and undertake our work.

A few examples of our philosophy include:

  1. We default to openness, default to transparency and default to more communication rather than less.  Often tech companies have internal information “silos” where information is stored and not shared.  This is unacceptable behaviour at Molten-Labs and is one of the reasons that hiring is such a difficult and demanding task.
  2. Traditionally, the motivation for employees to “work hard” has come down from “on high”, but research has shown that the needs of trusted colleagues are much more of a motivation (basically peer pressure).  Hence the need for a flat operating structure.
  3. Evidence-based design (EBD) is a process used in the planning, design and development of new projects. Evidence-based design makes decisions based on the best information available from research, project evaluations and evidence gathered from client operations.

An evidence-based design should result in improvements to an organisation's outcomes, economic performance, productivity and customer satisfaction.
